Seven Fields Farm & Orchard has been working on a two-year long research project with the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO). Our project is designed around the comparison of two methods of disease management with the goal of discovering the best sustainable organic approach to caring for black walnuts. As a proud member of EFAO we were featured in the latest Ecological Farmin in Ontario newsletter (November – December 2018 – Vol. 36, No. 6) which regularly features a member profile that highlights some of the inteesting work being done at farmers across the province. We thought we would share the article below, written by Sarah Feige, which outlines our thoughts on the farmer-led research currently underway at our farm and the merits of farmers taking control of their own research. We look forward to our continued research with the EFAO.
