Brownie Points at Kensington Market

For those who have been to Toronto, and know the city well, Kensington Market is an area of town where one can find just about anything. Between May and October, Kensington supports pedestrian Sundays with street vendors, entertainment and featured local products – all with no place to park as per usual in downtown Toronto. A wonderful store called 4Life Natural Foods kindly offered us the opportunity to set up a table in front of their store to feature and sell our last remaining apple products. We were able to sell freshly made apple cider and our special vegan applesauce brownies made with fair-trade cocoa, organic flour and apples from our farm. The farm provided a record yield of apples this year and we are so thankful for the opportunity to bring pesticide-free organic produce to consumers. A big thank you to all those who visited our table at Kensington Market, and for the generous and kind support of 4Life Natural Foods for allowing us to set-up for a day outside their amazing store. We hope to be back next year with some new and exciting apple products.

Our First Farmers’ Market

It has been a great weekend for Seven Fields Farm & Orchard. We were invited to the Stop’s Farmers’ Market at Wychwood Barns in Toronto as a vendor to feature our heritage apples and introduce ourselves to the world of weekend farmers’ markets. This kind invitation was extended by Cookie Roscoe, manager of the Stop’s Farmers’ Market and the weekly market at SickKids Hospital in downtown Toronto. Being a vendor for the first time was a truly unique and highly rewarding experience for us as a new farm. We were grateful for the experience and had the opportunity to network with farmers from across the province who shared their experiences, stories, and friendly advice. There is a very real expansion of farmers’ markets in urban centres and towns across Ontario, and it is our hope that one day we can be a regular feature at a farmer’s market near you. A heartfelt thank you to all who stopped by our table, and to those who gave us so much support and encouragement. Even on a such a cold and windy day we had a great time. Here are a few photos from our very first farmers’ market experience:
